August 7th (Day 37)- Today was day 3 of the camp and we started the day off with early morning breakfast and then we had life skills seminars on HIV/AIDS & healthy living. This was an amazing learning experience for the campers. I learned some techniques and engaging games to get the campers involved and also learn about HIV/AIDS. Through these games the campers were able to share their thoughts about the deadly virus and share with one another what they learned. "Hoops 4 Hopes" was the partner organization running the life skills seminar and I got he chance to get lots of material to teach my camp as well. I have learned after session one of my camp that making activities fun and intriguing is the best way to teach, and with these new exercises, these teens may not feel as sensitive about talking about AIDs or HIV. After the seminars the teams practiced and participated in games. The NBA Cares were working on community outreach, refurbishing a basketball court, a study room and a technology center with more than 30 computers.
