We bought our tickets for the Alhambra in advance from our campsite. We paid with credit card and received a receipt to hand in when we arrived, but when we got there they wouldn't allow us in. They needed to see Dad's credit card that he didn't have with him. It was unfeasible to go back and get it, because it had taken us over an hour to get there by catching two buses. Dad argued and got slightly frustrated with the whole situation (that's a slight understatement!). They sent us to another office miles away, Dad argued some more, and by this point he was fuming with anger. In the end we walked all the way back to queue up and pay again, but when we got to the desk we were served by another woman and decided to try handing over the receipt with my credit card, which obviously doesn't match the number on Dad's credit card. We succeeded in totally confusing the woman with our lack of language skills and in the end she just gave us our tickets anyway.
Relieved to finally be in, we relaxed in the gardens for a bit, before going to see the Palace. Our entrance problems didn't stop here. Time slots are allocated to enter the Palacios Nazaries and when we arrived we were refused entry, because we were an hour late. This is when we realized that our clocks were wrong. This also explains why the last bus never turned up last night! All holiday Dad has been messing with the time. He decided to change our clocks so we were 2 hours ahead of Morocco, in order to get more daylight. That meant when we came back into Spain our time was 1 hour ahead. I requested that we changed our clocks back to normal, matching the country we were in; otherwise we would totally confuse ourselves and probably miss our ferry. We're not quite sure how we ended up behind Spanish time, but over the past few weeks we've changed our clocks back and forward that often that none of them say the same time, so it's most likely that Dad accidentally changed the time on his phone back twice.
We accepted defeat and never got to see the Palace at the Alhambra. I did look at a postcard, so at least I know what I missed!
