We left Morocco behind today and drove from Tangier into Ceuta. The Moroccan/Spain border was complete chaos again. We paid for our free form this time, even though we knew the con, it was just easier than fighting off all the touts. Dad went off to get our passports stamped, leaving me in the van surrounded by people banging on the sides and starring in at me. I decided to buy a few bananas from a man sitting on the floor just below my window. I leant out and got what I wanted, but then got shouted at by a Policeman. I think he thought I'd taken a photo, but my camera was in my bag, so I don't know how or when he thought I did it, but he made me show him the photos on my camera. Or maybe he was shouting at me, because I'm not meant to communicate or buy anything (even a banana) from the locals.
From Ceuta we got a ferry over to Algeciras. Luckily we only had one trip across the Mediterranean this time! Once back in Spain we headed for Granada. We had economized by using old maps and guidebooks for Spain, which wasn't a good idea, because it made navigating and finding campsites rather difficult. Roads have changed and campsites closed. It took us hours to find an open campsite and Dad and I were exhausted from today's journey, but we decided to go into Granada to check out the Tapas bars. After being in Morocco everything seems so expensive, but it is nice to be able to get alcohol instead of Berber Tea. We attempted to get the last bus home, but it never turned up so we ended up getting a taxi, fortunately the driver knew where our campsite was, unlike our Seville experience.
