We only spent one night in Livingston, but what a night it was! We decided instead of a normal dinner in a restaurant we would go spend the evening with a Garifuna family at the Rasta Mesa and learn to cook one of their traditional dishes, Hudut. (A coconut broth with fish and green banana dumplings)

Grinding coconuts to make the coconut milk and filleting the fresh catch of the day before smelling the onions and garlic fry made our taste buds water!

After a delicious dinner, we were treated with a special treat! Some of the locals gather to play some typical Garifuna music, Punta. Banging on the drums, turtle shells and singing in true Garifuna style it was not hard to get up and join the families kids in a dance!
