A lovely town that reminds me a little of Paris! With plenty of little cafes and bistros dotted down the pedestrian strip, we were not short of places to sit and watch the world go by.

From here we were able to visit Canyon del Sumidero. A truly amazing place populated with monkeys, birds and crocodiles! The walls of the canyon reaches up to 1000 meters high making cruising through the 13km stretch of river to the dam pretty spectacular!
It was a pretty warm day and on the bus ride home I was awoken by everyone climbing off the bus. With our Spanish still lacking greatly we were a little in the dark at this point as to what was going on. Eventually we managed to gather that the windy steep hills of the road back to San Cristobal had been to much for our van and it had over heated! We would now be taken to a town we had just spent an hour wandering aimlessly around and we had a 3 hour wait ahead of us before they could send another bus. Our half day tour had turned into a full day expedition!
One thing we learnt that day was that we had both definitively decided that we absolutely despise a Mexican drink called Michelada. Its a terrible tasting drink made with a mix of beer, lime juice, sauces, spices and peppers topped with a chilli salted rimmed glass. Simon had managed to order two of them at two separate times not realising what he was ordering. It was the first time I have seen the man spit out alcohol!
