So, after having a great breakfast of Potato Pancakes and Fruit, we made our way to Zolochiv a small town about an hour 1/2 from here. We got dropped off and talked to a women at a house, Charlene was trying to find family, this women invited us into her home and then her husband called someone, and we were given coffee and cookies and told to eat, meanwhile a younger man came, who turns out to be charlenes 2nd cousin, he takes us to her Aunts house and the experience was just sooo moving, seeing how friendly these people were and how happy they were that Charlene found them and it was just wow... they had a friend who spoke english and called her to come over to help translate. Cousins after cousins came, Charlene was soo taken aback by it all. And so was i. There was a little boy about 1yr 1/2 that i couldnt help but play with and he just loved to play with my bracelet and he was soo friendly and would come running at me and give me a hug. Her family, her 2nd cousins who are about her age, really wanted to show us the castle and so we went and it was closed, we went into the cafe where even though we were not hungry we had to get something and also have some wine. They made phone calls and we ended up going in to see the Castle! They were sooo nice and friendly! It was soo moving to see and had nothing to do with me! They asked us to come back tomorrow, now i'm not sure if i will be going with Charlene or not or if i will make my own way elsewhere, thats to be decided...

I am going to add some pictures of Lviv and of Zolochiv Castle. What a day!

Oh, i also understand now why Ukrainians moved out west in canada, their country side is much like the prairies its just a little more hilly! Ukraine is Beautiful. You truly realise how to appreciate life when people live with so little and yet are so happy and so giving.

Nice!
Loved your blog today Tara. These people sound very very friendly, the type of people we should all strive to be. Glad you are having a good time and meeting such great people!

I traveled with my family to Zolochiv in 2006 in order to view the town my paternal grandparents left in 1909. I'd like to spend a few days there but my efforts at locating a hotel has been fruitless. After spending a few hours in Zolochiv we traveled by car further east to the little village of Bazalyia, where we met some of our family that still lives there. Oh what a wonder trip it was.
