skipped a week of school this week to head down to andalusia in the south of spain. we managed to get really cheap flights, so seven of the australians headed off on a road trip :) we were all super keen so we booked the early morning flight - we all ended up in the airport at 5:45 am with no sleep between us, it was pretty messy. halloween was the night before we left, so none of us had had any sleep at all. but we made it, just!

arrived in sevilla, and instead of the sunny south of spain we were expecting, were greeted with cold and rainy spain instead. i can see how people would find sevilla a beautiful city, but at the moment they are constructing a tram line right through the centre of the city, past all the most beautiful and important sites, and so the city currently resembles one very large construction site, complete with poorly behaved builders...

we headed to the alcazar, which is a big castle/ palace type complex in the centre of the city. its really beautiful, lots of gorgeous blue tiles and huge gardens all around. there was even a maze - my friend and i managed to get lost in it in the middle of a downpour - not our smartest move ever! also checked out the cathedral, which was built on the site of the old mosque, and the oldest functioning bullring in spain, which was pretty cool. they have a fully equipped emergency room, in case of bull related accident :)
