Where I stayed
Big Mountain Lodge
I am leaving Montana today with one last chance to go up to Glacier and see Going-to-the-Sun Mountain. Hopefully, the two hour drive there will give the sky plenty of time to clear up and the sun to make an appearance. I have faith (and meteorologic confirmation) that it will. Also, with this Big Sky they have out here in Montana, you can actually see the end to the clouds.
Being sick put a damper on the last leg of my journey, but I still have one day to change that. And it did afford me the chance to get to know this small town of Whitefish a little better. I stayed at a great hotel (no need to tent in 30 degree weather with a fever), fell in love with the soup selection at Safeway, got to watch cable for four days straight (love that reality TV), learned to appreciate the contrast of the greens against the blues, and got some tour guiding. Overall, my stay in Whitefish has been delightful.
So I am quite literally off to my final destination, right now. It will be realized. I will make it the final stretch. Come flat tire, rain, or cough, I will see Going-to-the-Sun.
