We bought fresh sweetcorn and ate it grilled for lunch. It is much sweeter fresh than tinned or frozen and much tastier.
We drove to an adorable little bookshop in Cherry Valley. It was dusty and cobwebby in the best possible way and crammed with books. We also had a look at Sharon Springs and then went on to Glimmerglass state park. The names here are really lovely, either names I recognise from home or pretty ones that must have been made up less than 200 years ago. The lake was beautiful, as were the walks we wandered though. We crossed the oldest covered bridge in New York state which strongly reminded me of Sleepy Hollow (which is apparently only a little way south of here). I learned what poison ivy looks like (very innocuous) and we stood frozen when we spotted some deer close by.
Bananagrams (also known as quick scrabble) and then pizza for dinner. It was delicous when made with fresh ingredients like tomatoes and mozzarella.
