Hi Everyone!

The Monday after the Convention I was back on a plane for a short hop over to the island of Maui. This was the bluest water I'd ever seen in my life and you could see straight to the bottom, no problem.

Though I didn't have many days here I certainly made the most of them. The second night there I went to a Luau. The third day I went to snorkel and Molikini and swim with giant sea turtles.

At the snorkeling site I couldn't wait to get in the water. My two snorkel-buddies were from the Highbridge Congregation in New York and I got such a kick out of them! They were two young ladies who had been roommates for about 10-years. They reminded me of a younger version of Evelyn and me, hilarious.

When we arrived at Molikini we were given instructions about how far away we could go and we were let loose. I headed straight for the reef. Man! was I rewarded for that. At first looking down was a little scary, because it was so deep and you could see all the way to the bottom.

I noticed, as I was swimming along, that a large black fish was sort of swimming with me. Every once in a while he would turn on his side to look at me and then turn the way I turned. Then, he'd look at me again. That was fun.

There was a forest of coral and waving anenomes of every color and tropical fish gliding in and out of them like knives through butter. One fish was black, yellow and white. It was the same fish that tried to get Nemo to swim up the tube and jam the fan with a rock in the movie Finding Nemo. He's much more bright and colorful in real life.

My favorite one though was this huge light blue fish who was florescent with bright yellow, darker blues and an unusual pink. He was so much bigger than all the other fish that I thought they might flee when they saw him. But, no, they all kept feeding among the coral together.

I could've stayed there all day, until my skin got all pruny. In Paradise I'm going back there and stay for hours just watching, and this time touching, the fish. Can't wait...

Okay, here are some pictures of my roommate, Cathy, who I referred to as "Cat", plus some of the sites we saw in Lahaina. Sorry I didn't have an underwater camera for Molikini. So, you'll just have to live vicariously through me, tee, heee....

Love you(s)
