It was another beautiful morning when we awoke in Hanmer Springs, we had breakfast in the sun and then headed off into the town to see what our options were for the day. After enjoying the adrenalin of racing around in the speed boats marion had decided she wanted more white knuckle activities so we decided to go for some jet boating! We booked in for the afternoon and decided to head off into the forest to go for a walk and get some much needed shade from the sun. in typical mark medley fashion we were led the wrong way round the walking trail always walking the opposite direction to the arrows! We made it though and it was a lovely walk through all the pines and ferns that were towering above us. We headed to a café for a quick bite to eat and then it was back to the campsite to pick up the campervan before driving down to the gorge where we were to board our jet boat.

We decided to give marion and my dad the front seat so we could witness the fear however it ended up being me that screamed the most as we raced down the river at around 100km/h skimming the cliff face with a couple of inches to spare and breaking into 360 degree spins! It was great fun. At one point the driver stopped the boat and told us a bit about the boats and the river we were driving down, he pointed to a crack in the rocks and told us that that was an active fault line! We couldn't believe that you could actually see it, he also said that the jet boats are designed to go on just 10cm of water and pumped out enough water to fill an Olympic swimming pool in just 10 minutes! It really was a great experience and we were all buzzing afterwards. At the bridge where we began there was a bungy jump over the river – marion was quite ready for one of those just yet – but maybe next time!

On the way back and to try and relax after our jet boating experience we headed to the hot pools, we paid extra to be able to go on the slides and jumped into the lazy river to begin with we then did a couple of lengths in the pool but not wanted to over exert ourselves too much we left their and went to the 40 degree pools and the hydro therapy ones which have lots of jets of water which massage your legs and back. We then went to the slides – marion continued her dare devil act and went down one in a tube which spins you round in a huge plug hole type dome until you fall down the final tube to the bottom. We then went off to the sulphur pools but found ourselves with a very boring lady who decided to talk to us about car racing for ages – we soon made our excuses and left and found another quieter place! it was lovely and very relaxing and in the end me and marion had to be dragged out by my dad and tai who wanted to go for a beer. It was the perfect way to end our trip!
