So its been a year today since we left the UK and we thought it was worth giving a little update on here. Life in Christchurch is still wonderful; we both have very easy chilled out jobs, a lovely flat and made some great friends. A month or so ago we moved out of our beachside home and into our own place on the edge of Hagley Park – with 4 bedrooms (kind of) we feel as though we are living like kings however the place has come unfurnished and so for the first week or so the floor was our dining table, sofa and bed base. A month or so in its starting to come together – we are even getting creative and have begun to build our own sofa after realising the doorway into the lounge is not wide enough to get any furniture through, the sofa is coming along well, we have most of the cushions for it now and its super comfortable, so much so as soon as you sit down you generally just fall asleep!

We have also experienced a little more of the activities Christchurch has to offer including the Antarctic centre – a place dedicated to penguins, which was great – we even got to go for a ride in a Haglund – a vehicle used to cross the Atlantic – the course at the back of the centre was worlds away from the conditions I'm sure they experience in the Antarctic but with steep hills to climb and deep crevasses to cross we got an idea of how amazing these vehicles are – they can even turn into boats as they are submerged up to the windows in water. The Antarctic centre was cool and made us want to go and find some penguins in the wild soon. We also had a great time playing mini golf at a pirate themed golf course – I obviously won this. Finally we had a day at Adrenalin Forest – a high wire course in the tree tops with zip lines and assault courses up to 20m up, feeling very hung over and delicate I decided to wait on the ground and watch tai wobble and swing his way around the course deciding we would have to come back another day in order for me to redeem myself! Tai has also had another tattoo done since being here – I think this is becoming a bit of a problem now ;-)

Christchurch is changing daily with more and more bars and restaurants opening, it’s hard to keep up and make sure we are experiencing everything this growing city has to offer.
