So the first phase of our trip is over, we left south America having cycled the worlds most dangerous road, survived some rapids in Ecuador, abseiled down waterfalls, climbed a mountain (almost), hiked the inca trail, visited islands on the worlds highest lake, swam with sharks and sealions on the Galapagos, looked down a crater of an active volcano, sand boarded face first down sand dunes in Peru, saw the ancient ruins of puma punku, walked on air at the biggest salt flats in the world, learnt an embarrassingly small amount of Spanish and went to see a dramatic reading-in Spanish, tried to surf, drank a lot of pisco sours and met some amazing people!
Here are a few of our observations from the past 5 months: it's not as scary or dangerous as we first thought, every meal comes with rice and chips, the favourite film genre for buses is the most violent genre available, men seem to lose heat from there bellies as they all roll their tops up to their chests, no one likes wearing swimming costumes (men and women) instead opting to swim fully clothed and then rolling around in the sand before walking home, Everyone drinks a bright yellow drink called inca cola all the time but never out of the bottle instead out of tiny plastic cups they keep refilling every two minutes and gangman style is played EVERYWHERE!
It's been an incredible 5 months!
