Where I stayed

Tulum is a sleepy little town of about 15,000 people - about 2 hours south of Cancun. It has a very transient population, as it is almost always used by backpackers and the like on their way further south to the Belizean border and onward.

The main attractions here are the Ruins (which have an awesome setting overlooking the Carribean sea), and of course the beach itself. Crystal blue waters, and a barrier reef only a couple hundred meters from the sure.

We are staying in pretty cool hostel (called the Lobo Inn) - not far from either the beach and ruins or the town centre. And let me assure you that the great majority of the time spent here is laying around on the beach with a book, whilst sipping on an ice cold Corona - with the occsaional dip in the waters to cool off. Doesnt get much better than that. That is why we have decided to spend more than a few days here.

Nights are cool and balmy and the only annoying thing that springs to mind are the mozzies - but they are easily kept at bay with the amount of repellant we slap on. Had an awesme BBQ the ther night with other Aussies, Turks, Americans and Mexicans - not a bad way to finish off the day doing nothing on the beach..... Happy days!
