This will be my final entry to this blog as my trip to Germany has come to an end and I am back home again.  Thanks to all who read my words here and shared this experience with me.

We made it to our hotel in Anchorage at 9:30pm Alaska time last night (7:30am Germany time) which was 27 1/2 hours after we had started our day of travel. Tomorrow I'll start back to work and life will go on as normal, but I will forever have the memories of my time in Germany. Memories I will never forget and will hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life. I will always be thankful for the new friends I met there and for being able to finally meet Johanna's family. And of course for the time spent with Johanna again.

I know I will really miss having breakfast and other meals with Johanna and her family.  It was a time of fun and laughter.  There were at times a communication barriers, but somehow we always managed to understand each other.  And of course trying new foods and recipes was part of the fun. There was so many new things to see and experience, so many differences from our part of the world.  I would have never been able to imagine it all and seeing those things in a book or on the internet...well, it just isn't the same to quote a well used cliche.

I spent part of the afternoon of my first day back here in Alaska carefully unpacking all the gifts I received and the souvenirs I purchased while I was there and placed each one in my china cabinet so I can see them daily. My beloved Christmas pyramid is in the front in its place of honor.  The lovely calendar I received has already been hung on the wall so it too will be a daily reminder to me that I was there. I really really was there.
