This was a highlight of the trip! I am lucky enough to have had my first ocean dives at one of the top spots in the world for diving: Sipadan Island. Over the course of a few days I did 6 dives in the area, 3 at Sipadan Island, 2 at Mabul Island, and 1 at Kapalai Island. What an amazing place to go dive! Sipadan is famous for its beautiful wall corals. The island rises vertically out of the sea and is surrounded by a wall of coral that goes down seemingly forever. Here I saw a giant clam, dozens of Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtles, several Reef Sharks, Lionfish, a massive school of Jackfish, and a tornado of Barracuda, hundreds strong! At Mabul was a plethora of crazy looking fish, several turtles, and other marine life such as Spotted Eagle Ray, Moray eel, and gigantic sea cucumbers. Fish I saw were Pipe fish (like a sea horse), frogfish, scorpionfish, crocodilefish, boxfish, porcupinefish, lionfish, and many others. I got pretty spoiled I think!
