My principal Greg was hooked up with a family pass for the Lake Malaren Invitational PGA tournament in Shanghai this weekend, so we went and checked it out today. Free golf! We were going to go to the bigger event next weekend that would have had Tiger Woods and Phil Mikelson at it, but tickets for that are very expensive....and this one was free. Many big name players were at this event so it was pretty cool to see....and considering the quality of the field, there sure weren't many spectators there, so we were able to get really close to many of the golfers. From what I saw after the fact, I think there was 15 of the top 30 or 40 golfers in the world at the tournament. The first place prize was 2 million bucks, the richest in all of golf...but this was the inaugural event so it is nit yet sanctioned by any pro golf organizations. The tournament is a bit of a warm up for the larger HSBC Shanghai tournament this weekend. They invited 30 players to play at Lake Malaren most of them players coming for the HSBC. The tourney was won by Rory McIlroy on a playoff hole over Anthony Kim. Great finish! McIlroy is the world #2 golfer so it was really coo to see him win! Here are some pictures
