"After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la, la la la la la"

This song by America was stuck in my head the entire time I was at this place, and what an amazing place. Probably in my top 5 places I have been in my life. About 2 hours east of Turpan is the Kumtagh Desert, a desert just like you would picture in your head: sand dunes, camels, all of it. The desert here is growing pretty rapidly due to overgrazing of the land in this region, and some of the dunes are up to 75 meters high. Wes and I hired a driver to take us all around the desert region surrounding Turpan, about 20 bucks each for 12 hours of touring! We hiked into the dunes a fair ways to get away from other people and were rewarded with amazing views of the dunes, all to ourselves. They sure can make you feel small! The pictures are great, so I will stop blabbing about it and just upload them now
