What I did
Walking around the neighborhood
Went out for a walk this evening up and down my street. Thought I would take some pictures to show you what it is like in my area. A far cry from my surroundings in Wenzhou! My area is a fairly upmarket shopping district called Xujiahui (Shoe-jya-hway). There is a distinct Japanese vibe to it as there are all sorts of Japanese chains stores, restaurants, and electronics outlets around. Lots of bright lights, and tastes of home too. If it weren't for all the Chinese characters on all the signs, it could just as easily be a big city in Canada. Enjoy the pictures. By the way, next weekend I will be heading all the way across China to the Xinjiang province to visit the desert. My buddy Wes and I will fly to Urumqi for 5 days...not long enough to see much of the province, but we will stick around one area and see whatever we can. An hour or two outside of Urumqi is a place called Turpan where we will spend the majority of our time. It looks really interesting. Will be posting photos of that trip after we get back.
