Hello to anybody bothering to read this!

Hard to believe it has been 1 month since I posted anything on here, but it appears that is how long it has been. It's been a pretty hectic month, which actually has included a trip to Suzhou and Shanghai, but I have already posted so many pictures from there, I decided not to add any more this time.

Since the last time I wrote on here we went to Suzhou for Halloween. That was a pretty good time. I went as an angel with wings and everything (ironic?) and attended a house party with some of Simon's work buddies. It was a good time. Of note was when the bobbing for apples container (a plastic tub of about 50 litres of water broke mid-bob and flooded the entire living room floor of the dudes apartment. There was a lot of "towel dancing" after that.

We also just recently had a long weekend because of "exam week" which I will get too later. Myself and a couple friends from work shot up to Shanghai and stayed with some friends up there. Didn't actually do a whole lot there however, just hung out mostly. We did go to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum which was a pretty cool place. Basically it is a gigantic museum with different exhibits, such as "Robot World", "Animal World", "Space World" etc........all sorts of worlds in there.

As far as life in Wenzhou goes, it's been a bit of a drag lately. Lots of nonsense to deal with at school these days. Just yesterday we started our 4th, yes FOURTH timetable of the year..so every time you get comfortable with your schedule, it seems to get completely switched around on us.....and the changes usually make things worse. I was actually happy as it appeared my new schedule would be better for a change, buuuuuut then last minute (2 days ago) they totally changed it up again. Mostly due to changes made by a certain Chinese administrator. For example, on Wednesdays I teach from 8-9:30 am, then don't have another class until 3:30 until 5:15......what kind of a day is that???? You might think, oh, no big deal, just go home for 6 hours between classes. Good in theory except Wednesdays at lunch is our designated staff meeting time. So I have to be at school at lunch time. DUMB!!!!

Also, this week is extra stressful because we have this lady from the Cairo Egypt Canadian school here observing us for our professional development (helping us find new ESL teaching strategies)....ALSO the Chinese VP has been visiting our classrooms watching us teach.....ALSO the school accreditation inspection is this Thursday/Friday which means we will all be getting observed for that also. sheesh, leave me alone already!!

Exam week was last week which is an entire week without classes and just midterm exams. That means make exams, and mark exams all week. For me, I have 4 courses with exams, so I had to make 4 different exams, then mark 150 exams. No fun. I also share those courses with other teachers so I had to coordinate common tests with other teachers for all 4 tests....and lots of attending meetings for both Science and Humanities departments later. Feelin just a liiiiittle bit bogged down these days.

In better news, long weekend for Christmas is coming up very soon, and for that we will be flying down to Macao which should be really cool. They have the second highest bungee jump in the world there (from the top of the Macao tower). My buddy Kev is trying to convince me to join him on that, but I am pretty sure I will just video his! I've never been one for heights. Also, I booked my flights for Vietnam coming up in January to see some friends from last year, and travel around there for the Spring Festival holiday. Looking forward to that. Furhtermore, I am helping another teacher run a photography club for students at our school now as well, so that should be a lot of fun.

Anyway, hope you are all doing well. Will write more as it happens.

Hi Trevor...... you dress up as an ANGEL for Halloween....... lol..... that is really going out of your box, eh!!
Reading your entry..... I can read between the lines that you are getting frustrated with this Chinese experience?? Maybe time to think about returning to God's country for next year? Even if it isn't as exciting as last year, think of all the experiences that you have, that you never would have got teaching in a little dump somewhere in northern BC!
Anyhow hang in there! And YES I do read your blogs!!!!
