Spent the morning in Valletta and went to visit the Palace of the Grand Masters. This is still used as the parliment building so if they are sitting you can't visit. Very interesting, loads of suits of armour and paintings of the various grand masters. They had an armoury museum as part of it and loads of boys toys in there. From there we went to the Cathedral and this was pretty wow, ornate would be an understatement. We had an audio guide so got a lot of the history of the knights as they are the ones responsible for its building. The whole floor is tombstones to important knights who have died. There was also a museum that had some famous Carravagio paintings, apparantly he completed his novice entry to the knights then had a problem and killed one so they bootted him out! Then it was a quick walk up to the upper gardens for the noon gun, quite noisy, think the soldier enjoyed deafening us all. In the afternoon we had tickets for the Hypogeum, Maltas world famous underground burial chambers over 7000 years old. We had an adventure getting the bus but eventually got there. It was really impressive just in the suburbs under all the houses down about 10 meters. Tried a differant restaurant for dinner, just near the hotel and had another great meal, fish this time. Well going to run out of time , so ciao for now, off to Rome tomorrow so not sure of the internet situation.
