Our guide said that the drive to Lumbini would take 7 hours, it took 11! It was just 6 of us now going to Nepal and we were meeting our new guide at the boarder. The roads were bad. They were making most of them wider so the traffic was slow. We saw lots of the farming life in India. Including women peeing at the side of the road. It was strange to see that even when the people were poor the women always looked lovely, all dressed in bright colours and all clean clothes. The men looked like farmers but the women looked like they were going to a weeding or something.
The boarder was really busy and it was already 6.30pm. Mosquito's were everywhere. It took us about 30 mins to get through immigration and to get our visas.
The next day we went to see the birthplace of Buddha. The story was interesting but there wasn't much to see. Just a temple where he was born under a tree. Apparently the tree had been dug up and taken away!
