Where I stayed
Tom, Supa, and Elise's home
Mostly, we have enjoyed each others' company and fretted over what to pack. We are taking 5 checked bags that will stay in Thailand, which means we will be able to bring 5 bags back of... who knows what!
Today, we (Supa and I) went to the temple and took the monks food. We visited with Supa's friends and relatives, while the monks ate, then participated in the prayers. After that, we ate. While Supa, and some others did the dishes, I was invited to talk with the senior (?) monk. He spoke English and invited me to ask questions. We sat in a room and had a long conversation about Budahism, Thailand, and family. I was charmed and honored. I will post some pictures on this (when I figure it out!). One of Supa's nephews is a new monk.
Tomorrow, we will fly from San Antonio to Dallas, Dallas to Tokyo, and Tokyo to Bangkok. We plan to spend much of the day in Bangkok, then travel by van to Ubon Ratchathani. I am so excited, and have no idea what to expect.
