Where I stayed
Atlassian Summit
Today was the start of the Atlassian Summit. This conference is the main reason why we are in San Francisco. We use all the Atlassian tools in our company, so it's a good reason to come and check what that the creators want to say to us.
We started with a very nice 'free' breakfast. 5 kinds of cake, fruit, 3 kinds of fruit juice, croissants, .... . All very tasteful and delicious. During breakfast, I met a fellow "Dragon Slayer". I received a Dragon Slayer T-shirt from Atlassian some time ago, because I installed all their tools and I was able to link them all together. Then you can ask a free T-shirt for it :D . It was very cool to a guy who had the same idea. Wear the goddamn T-shirt at the Atlassian conference. Really enjoyed that moment.
After stuffing ourselves, we went to the "General Session", which was a big keynote presented by the 2 owners of the company. Very intresting. Their marketing guys did a really good job at creating nice looking 3D animations. Nice work :-)
After a 15 minute pause, they started with some lightning talks from 13 of their biggest sponsors. The public could rate the presentators by sending some SMS messages to an automated rating system. Never seen such a system before and it was quite funny. You could rate the talks with a score from 1 to 5, with 1 being "ZZzzZZzz *yawn*" and 5: "I am very enthousiastict about this talk".
During dinner I was spotted by one of the 2 CEO's and shaked hands with him. He found it cool that people were proud of having all the tools installed.
We ended the conference-part with 5 interesting talks. I'll spare you from the details of this ;-)
