Trip End
Nov 15, 2009
The 14th of November, we pulled into Big Bayou Canot just in time for another fantastic sunset. The early evening sounds were dominated by the grunts and splashes of a large group of wild pigs at the water's edge.
The next morning after the fog finally lifted, we began the last stretch towards our final destination: Mobile, AL.
It was exciting to finally exit the Mobile River into Mobile Bay. When we pulled into the Turner Marine Supply Marina on the Dog River at 2pm on November 15, our GPS registered a total trip distance of 1,356.2 statute miles. We celebrated our arrival with a well-deserved seafood dinner, our first real restaurant experience since leaving Chicago. Yum.
We arrived to Mobile with just enough time to prep the boat before departing for Vegas the following afternoon! After a few days of Vegas with my folks, we headed back with them to Texas for Thanksgiving. A very happy ending to this leg of our migration to the lower latitudes with Hawkswood!
More adventures are in the works...stay tuned!
