Still at Janes...bless her!

Well hello everyone!

I'm dim....I'm writing this on March 5th - Happy birthday my lovely friend Jane! -  and it's automatically put it on 2nd may!  I'm not good at this stuff!  I don't know what I've done wrong!

Anway...Sat 5th march...
I'm still in Sydney - it's a bit of a grey day and even, can I say a bit chilly?!  So much so, that I've actually put my 'vest' on again!  Can you believe it?!  A vest on in Sydney!  What's the weather coming to?!  Anyway - I've got the bus into the city to upload some photos and update this week a little bit.  Then I'm heading off to Paddington Market - a lovely place with nice foodie things as well as beautiful hand made clothes, crafts etc and fresh flowers etc - so really, just the place for a girl who has stooped to wearing a vest, needs to go on a grey day!

I've put the photo's here - not all of Sydney - some of Kangaroo Island before I left Adelaide - so they're out of sync but at least they're here!

So, this week I've had some good news - my friend Claire in Christchurch is ok - although her house is unliveable and so she is staying in a friends holiday home in Auckland - which is where I'm heading next Saturday 12th March - so I'm hoping to catch up with her for a cuppa, if nothing else.  She said CC is like a bit of a war zone - so I'm definitely not going to hang around there - not much water/electricity etc.  i went into the Qantas office this week here in Sydney to find out what's happening with the flights and apparently, they're changing them for free if you're meant to be flying in or out of CC - but I won't know if that applies to me for a week or so, so I guess I'll have to finalise details when I'm in NZ but that's fine.

I'm lucky I saw Cc when it was beautiful - as I'm sure it will be when it's restored.  I remember climbing to the top of the Cathedral last visit and what a fabulous 360o view it gave.  I hear they're clearing it brick by brick, so maybe they're hoping to re build it to as near original as possible.  Who knows - plans change.  Claire is waiting to hear if her house is safe enough to be repaired or knocked down.  What a stressfull position that must be to be in - but at least she and her family are safe.

Anyway, back to this week.  I've been to a few beaches for walks, been out with Jane on her travels - she doesn't stop!  We had friends round last night and I cooked a nice Italian aubergine dish, which I will definitely be cooking when I get back - it was scrummy!  I'm not sure if we're still going to the Shakespeare by the beach tonight - it was very windy earlier and that won't be much fun because we plan to take a picnic -they do love their picnics' the Aussies!  If not, i'll chill out at home - Jane's going to a wedding - I've got some good programmes on tv to watch - and that'll do nicely with a glass of white and some nibbles, thank you very much!  Sometimes being a traveller is hard work!

So, now it's 12.30 and I'm hungry and need a loo -thought I'd share that with you all - (others have known me to share worse!) - so I'm heading off now and will update this before I leave to Auckland next Saturday.  That'll be weird - the last time I was in Auckland was when I left NZ at the age of 14 - bloody hell, 40 years ago!  (I'm sure that's not right - I can't be that old!!!)  I'm staying with my mums American penfriend's son, Darl, and his wife Jo, whom I've never met.  Jo, that is, not Darl - I've met him a few times.  They're very kindly going to take me to my old house in a suburb outside Auckland on the North Shore called Milford where I hope to not look like a nosey stalker, and take a photo of the house for my mum and dad!  And me, of course - i may actually be nosey -but I'm not a stalker!  (still on the same dodgy keyboard as last time -cheap internet and janes still having problems with the internet).

anyway, now I really must go because that bathroom call is now getting urgent!

bye for now

Love to you all,

sue

ps - if you click on the photo's I've written a bit about them - you know me...can't stop talking!  Usually about myself!  (one of my biggest challenges was probably learning to stop talking and listen (I mean properly 'listen'), during my learning to become a counsellor,  Luckily - i managed it!

lol...very funny! Yes, actually, this is my surf dude look! That's why I haven't had longer hair for many years - it grows out not down! But for now it's going to look wild and crazy - it's easy to look after! You've redeemed yourself by saying I still look lovely though, Mr Withers!
