Flag of Spain  , Canary Islands,
Monday, January 24, 2000

The last day of being with our wonderful red Spanish car, Bonita as I called her, so we made the most of having wheels, exploring the south of the island.

We saw the viewing place of Fermes, then drove down to the spectacular beach of Papagayo, which could only be reached by a dirt road.
The beach was so lovely that we stayed there for six hours.
I was topless and swam in these warmer waters, which was like paradise.
I even walked around topless, going in the water like that.
Naturism was allowed here though only some old German guy up on the hillside was indulging in full nakedness.
We had a picnic on the beach and lay in the sun, with Nitais music playing on his tape machine.

Moving on we went to the salt drying region of Janubio and watched huge sprays from the waves crashing against the black rocks.
We passed Los Hervidos with its arch of rock that the sea was rushing through, and our next stop was Los Golfo with its green lake within a half washed away volcanic crater.
We stopped there for drinks at a roadside cafe, then went back through national park biosphere landscape, driving homewards but stopping at the posh marina of Calero where we dined and drank the local vino.
The waiter was so friendly, giving us free peach schnapps liqueur and told me how to say 'I love you' to any man I might fancy, 'jyoti kiero'.

I went to bed before Nitai, nestling under the covers with my Lanzarote book.
