Long ride from south to North Kyrgyzstan to capital Bishkek. Glorious scenery - kind of wild alps - with hills and mountains and rolling steppes in different hues. Vehicles small to cope with rough roads and passes. Periodically spying eagles hovering, horsemen herding sheep and cattle and strange and fitting large sculptures rising up on the hills of animals and people - even seen a couple of Lenins. This is a poor country, with both similar and very different feel to Kazaghstan and China, which both have a lot of economic activity. Wonderful 4star Hotel (was Pinara now Ah Keme) with swimming pool we enjoyed today. Missed a walk in mountain gorge and group dinner out cos tummy bug, had good rest day and didn't see much of capital - will find out about it tomorrow on 12 hr drive through Kyrgy-Kazagh-Uzbeki borders and countryside to Tashkent. Breakfast at 4.30am (won't miss it - it's too good here - and leave a 5am so off to bed again now!!
