Another hire car, happily this time not brand new and the brightest of blue……..they should see us coming and we OBVIOUSLY need a spoiler that takes up the ENTIRE rear window!!

Gray has the most amazing sense of direction, managing to negotiate his way out of the busiest of cities (including in the past New York.) SO the navigator with trusty map on her knee is virtually redundant!

The scenic, snaking Great Ocean Road begins with a magnificent arch to commemorate it. This epic road was built by the Australian soldiers who returned from the 1st World War as a memorial to those who did not come home.  Our magnificent coastal journey commences.

We soon reached Skenes Creek near Apollo Bay and Chris's Beacon Point villas, high up in the eucalyptus trees. The accommodation with floor to ceiling windows and phenomenal views was very basic. Basic we can do and we took advantage of the washing machine within, but the staff really were remarkably unfriendly.

We then took a lovely bracing walk along the beach and watched with interest the skill of the kite surfer racing across the waves at an immense speed.

Dinner was delicious although contrary to what was advertised, Chris the owner chef did not come around the tables to greet everyone.

It is clearly time to get back on this gorgeous  road!

So so so so beautiful! One of my absolute favourite places in the world, around every bend is yet another treat for the eyes and a gorgeous 'kodak moment'....I am so happy that the sun is shining for you too, the colours in the pictures are a lovely change from looking out at our rather grey Henley morning today! :) ...Have a wonderful time on the rest of your Great Ocean Road experience....what bliss! Be safe on your way, all love to you both xxx
