While this is my third travel to Japan, this is the first time that I would be visiting the country as a SMAP fan.  My SMAP communities and virtual friends have psyched me on things to expect.  For the first time, I might be recognizing who are the artists in those poster ads, take pictures of course.  Definitely, I would watch Nankyoku on Sunday, 20 November, 9 pm, TBS and SMAPxSMAP on Monday, 21 November, 10 PM, FujiTV.

I have also joined the thread on Visiting Japan in the SCS forum.  Because this is a SMAP community, what we talk about are places where you can possibly have SMAP sightings, and stores where you can buy SMAP souvenirs.  Possibilities are slim in Kobe, considering it's quite far from the center of Jpop culture (wish I could visit Tokyo again now that I am a SMAP fan).

Since we would be spending one free day in Kyoto, I was hoping there would be a Johnny's shop there. I was informed though that it was closed in 2007.  The nearest shop would be in Osaka.  But Osaka is just our point of entry and exit.  I don't know if I would have time to go around Osaka. But I've gotten directions on how to got there from the SMAPPIES.  Very helpful. See below.

To Osaka's Johnny's Shop the way with photos

Osaka Johnnys Shop, 542-0086 Osaka-shi Chuo-ku Nishi-Shinsaibashi 1-12-8 Obikenchiku biru 1F

Directions: Take the Midosuji Subway Line to Shinsaibashi station, take exit 8 (making sure to go up all of the stairs). This will lead you to be right in front of a hotel. Go to the left and then take a left at that first street. You will be walking beside the hotel. The Johnny's store is on that small street there. About 3 minute walk from the station. If you keep walking down the street and see a Mos Burger then you are on the wrong street. You need to go to your right one road. The store is pretty easy to miss, but it is on the right side of the street.

And in Kobe, I was directed to Sannomiya.  I may have the biggest chance of visiting this place.   Plus tips like look for a Book Off store.   I am optimistic I can bring home SMAP AID!

Got to study the subway map now...

Map:Hyogo International Center

I can see Sannomiya (upper left) from this map of JICA Hyogo International Center where we will be staying.  It's a bit far to the city center where the Sannomiya station is.  This will be a challenge trying to find my way to this shop in Sannomiya.
