We arrived in Hahei on Christmas Eve. Really hot and sunny. The B & B was lovely. It's run by Rachael and Pat who were very welcoming and made us feel at home straight away.
We went to the beach, about 3 minutes walk away. It's a lovely beach backed by a grassy area and trees. After the beach, we went back to the B & B and sat outside.
Christmas morning - had a lovely breakfast outside on the decking, then went for a swim.
Went for a lovely Christmas lunch at The Church. Really nice - smoked fish, turkey fricassee, lots of salads, followed by pavlova, cheesecake, fresh fruits, cheeses.
Rachael and Pat put on a barbeque in the evening which was lovely.
Boxing Day - went to Hot Water Beach, again just 10 minutes away. It was amazing - we dug a hole in the sand, it filled with very hot thermal water and then we sat in it and waited for the sea to come in and cool it. Definitely recommend it - a great experience. Good fun!
In the afternoon we went to Cathedral Cove. Also nearby. A beautiful beach with a huge arching rock that we walked through to the other side. Gorgeous beach with lovely waves. Again a must do visit.
