An 8 hour bus trip took me to Pula, a long but scenic journey. I jumped off to go to the toilet at one stop, but the bus didn't wait around for too long as what I thought it would. I came out of the toilet to find the bus driving off down the road, I started sprinting off after it and caught it about 400m down the road when it had to stop at the lights. I crawled aboard knowing that I was lucky that lights had turned red, the fact that I was totally out of breath and red faced seemed totally irrelevant - I was just lucky!
Pula is kind of ugly and doesn't have alot going for it, its Italian heritage pronounced it is still just a small port town with cheap high rise apartment accommodation. The best part about Pula is the youth hostel! Located about 10m for a private, superb beach area it is just amazing. Each night the sun sets perfectly in the bay, there are no mozzies and it is by far the best located hostel I have ever been in. The one downer has been the 60 odd 13 year olds that have been staying on school camp! I have decided that teenagers are the same all over the world, so I am sure you can imagine what it is like sharing life with them.
There are afew backpackers though to keep life interesting. Last night we had a big night out in Pula, which was alot of fun. We managed to get into alsorts of situations, danced the night away and somehow made it back to the hostel in the early hours of the morning. Helen (Kiwi chic from the hostel) and I are heading to Ljubijana tomorrow. My final destination before London on Tuesday.
