I really can't get over the Polish people, they truly are an extremely gutsy bunch. Their beloved Warsaw in total ruins after WWII they rebuilt it to its exact former glory with the help of detailed prewar paintings of the Old Town. Really, I just think it's the most admirable thing in the world... basically the whole world had left them to burn in hell during that war but they clung on and fought like little trogens and they now have just the most beautiful city. Big ups to the Pols I say! It's so incredibly cool how the city is new but not because they want to impress the tourists or whatever, they've done it simply for themselves and well against the odds.
As you can probably tell I kind of enjoyed my time in Warsaw! Once again lots of historical things to see and do. I went to the Jewish cemetery, but I didn't last too long there - in all honesty it totally spooked me out, goose bumps and all in sweltering hot weather. I couldn't leave fast enough! Weird I know, but that's just the way it was. Abit of a shame because it was actually a really beautiful cemetery set amongst the trees and I did get afew good photographs (great photography opportunities) before busting the gap out of that place. I wouldn't go back if you paid me! Never mind.
I also went to the equivalent of 'Te Papa' in Poland - a most magnificent interactive museum called 'The Uprising Museum'. It's a new museum and was totally mind blowing, totally focused on Polish struggle (uprising) during the war.
The weather has been spectacular during my time in Warsaw - beautiful hot days and chilly nights, the Autumn colouring now pronounced. I made sure to take some time out and just wander the many parks and gardens in Warsaw, doing abit of reading here and there. What a great place though! Not exactly the tourist capital (I think that's Krakow, which I have arrived in this afternoon), but more of a commercial type capital. It still has all of the trimmings with great food and cafes though. I'm all for it though. Warsaw has gladly received my seal of approval!
