10 million people (14 million in metropolitan area) and 5 million cars - yikes!  But I have fallen in love with the taxi's.  They are multiple shades of red, orange, green, yellow, pink, purple and blue - and there are thousands - like lots of butterflies flitting around. (well, sometimes they're just sitting - really bad traffic).

Bangkok is 12 hours ahead of EST.  And is an interesting mix of huge lavish highrises filled with expensive  condominiums and shacks made of nothing much more than a metal roof held up by some poles (but all with satellite dishes).

Have a wonderful time, Susan! Be sure not to miss the insect snack food wagons... mostly outside bars, etc at night. 12 feet by 4 feet long carts of all kinds of edible insects!!!! I am soooo jealous and wish I was with you!

No need to avoid all the street vendors! Raw fruit, ice, yes... but hot stuff is just fine almost always and it would be a shame to miss out!

Thanks for the update, keep them coming. Hope you got lots of pics of the food carts and food up close - I say go for it, it sounds like a must to try the local flavor!!
