We went, we saw, we got really wet!!! Wow, these waterfalls were absolutely amazing. They were so big and there was so much water and it was falling. Seriously though, the falls of Iguazu are everything you can imagine and more. Dont ask me about the history, because I dont really know it, but if you are really interested in getting a good peak at the falls wathc the first 15 minutes of the movie The Mission with Robert Deniro. We started the day off by taking this jungle adventure, which was overpriced, but in the end worth it because we got to get soaked by the waterfalls. Let me start over, actually we took this truck ride through the forest and a guide talked to us about different trees and bird species in the forest, and since we were there early we were the only ones on the tour. Then we hoped in a boat, went about a mile down stream, took some really cool up close photos from the water level, and then we put all our stuff in waterproof bags before we went right into the splash zone of two different falls. We got soaked and the best part about it was I couldnt stop laughing. I felt like I was a little kid running through a sprinkler again. It was so much fun. For my family, I was really more like Cooper. After the boat ride, we changed clothes and began hiking through the trails and taking picture after picture of anything that resembled water falling. It was rather overcast out and we were worried that we might not get any postcard shots, but it the end, the weather played to our advantage in that it was cooler and misty and kept the mosquitos and sandflies at bay. So, No Leishmaniasis or Yellow fever for me yet my friends. Definately the best part of the falls in my opinion was the Garganta del Diable (Devilīs Throat), because it was so powerful, and seemed to me like a fist of God. The othe falls were spectacular as well, but in a more finess type of way. They were for the most part the kind of falls that one might consider taking a boat over if it werent for all the gigantic boulders below. Dang boulders! We pretty much walked every last inch of trail available to us on the Argentian side before calling it a day and heading back to the hostel. This was absolutlely one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and I would recomend it to anyone that is in South America. Really though, You can do the entire thing in a day with time to spare on the Argentinian side, and Ive been told the Brazilian side is more of a three hour thing, so if you come dont plan to spend a ton of time here. Anyways, I think its time for another cheap yet tasty Argentinian steak so Im off to one of the Parillas. Pics will be up later tonight.
