Where I stayed
The Flying Duck
Well, I'm back in paradise & loving it!!! Got back on 18th Dec & been having a great time over the X-mas & NY period. Met up with all my friends from before which was really nice. Am staying at the same place as before as well - The Flying Duck & they've let me have the room for a bit cheaper this time as I'm staying longer.........excellent!!!
The weather since I've been back hasn't been that great, bit cloudy, wet & windy but today finally the sun came out & hopefully it'll stay that way. I'm off to Colombo to the visa office this week too, to try & extend my visa for a couple of months. Fingers crossed!!
Started helping out at Emily's english restaurant too, cooking traditional english fayre - full english breakfast, beans on toast, jacket potatoes, lasagne, cottage pie, etc............good wholesome food!!! We even did a massive X-mas dinner for about 20 paying guests which was hectic but fun!!! Felt like being at home!! Unfortunately we had to use chicken instead of turkey but we did manage to do pigs in blankets, stuffing, veg & I made bread sauce!!! No X-mas pudding though so I made apple crumble instead. You would've loved it dad!!!!
Anyway, loads of parties over the festive period & lots of arrack & ginger beer drunk!!
My friend Kim who I met in Nepal came over for a 2wk holiday which was really nice & she seemed to have a good time too.
I've also started learning sinhala (the main language spoken here in Sri Lanka) which is good & making me lots of local friends. Think I'm going to do a sri lankan cookery course sometime soon too so I can cook proper rice & curry!!! Yum!!!!!
It's actually really nice staying somewhere for a while & actually unpacking my backpack properly!!
