Well the following morning, I changed backpackers to a place over the road that a couple staying in ACB had told me was much nicer. As it turned out it was also cheaper so I booked in right away! After a shower and breakfast, I went to meet the guys I had arranged to do the walk with last night. Two were dutch guys, Ramu and Bus, and the other an english lad called Guy. We set off with a vague idea of where we were going and asked directions along the way. The was was supposed to be about 8 km but it felt more like 10 miles! When we reached the falls they weren't that impressive but the bay was very nice, We took it in turns to set up the timers on our cameras for group photos, but this little patch of beach was filled with sand flys ( like big flying fleas) and soon we got the hell out of there scratching all the way back up to the path! The walk through the bush back was an easy stroll compared to the hike up the road on the way there and the whole trip took about 5 hours, we could of done it quicker had we not beeen messing about and taking our time. It was good to get to know some sound lads who like a laugh a pint and a smoke, Guy had been traveling all over had some funny storys of getting stone in Louse and Cambodia. Acording to him theres this place where you order a Piza and after choosing your type ( fungi, Hawian ect..) They ask you how happy you want it. If you want it really happy, they mix in loads of weed to the paste and he was still stoned the next day from his!
We arranged to meet for drinksa friday and that night I got aqauinted with the others staying at my backpackers. Nearly all germans! Some of them were a good laugh but most lived up to the cliqche!
i asked the owner where I could look for work and he asked what I did what I was looking for ect.. Then before I knew it I had two days gardening work for him in return for 6 nights free acomodation. Not bad really, except when I got his garden it was on the steepist slope you can imagine and theres was loads of cutting back and clearence to be done, afterwards followed by jet washing all his drive. I was pretty knakered by the end of it, but it was good to be working outside in the sun and he was well pleased with what I got done.
Later I met Ramu, Bas and Guy and we had a bunch of bottles of beer at my backpackers before heading down the pub. It was a goood night and the Germans even joined us for a few.
Today I went by the ferry to a near by town called russel, did some more bush walks, collected some nice unusual shells from the beach, I even found $20! Then the walk took me to the top of the hill, where the veiws were spectacular, taking in all the bay.
Got some great photo's so take a look!

Hey Joel!!!
Well get a load of you!!! Sounds like your having the time of your life out there, after your initial illness's your well on your way. Sorry i haven't been in touch via travelpod lately, never actually got around to joining up until the other day though i have been following your blogs with interest and envy!

We've been very busy lately, me and Natalie, looking at houses to buy. It's a complete nightmare really it is! Finally settled on a two bedroomed cottage on Wheathead Lane, mortgage gone through, it's gonna be a few weeks of waiting now till we move in.

Anyway, on to more important matters, that pizza place, do they deliver? :) Wow, part of me wishe's i was there with you, the great outdoors on your doorstep and not a commitment in sight! And those paintings, truly beautiful. Sounds like you've been lucky finding a few decent folk out there as well, offering you work, as well as drinking parterships! :)

Anyway, i'll be back next week to see what you've been up to and possibly even give you a call on thurs night, just a quick one mind. you take care out there and stay safe. Peace out... ;)

Loved the Pics!
Hi joel,

Stunning photos, fantastic scenery, get e real feel of the place - everything so much bigger! Loved the 'Sofa so good' scene, and you on the 'Dump station' shots!

Well here in Yorkshire, Tues 17th Oct. [It's grim up north!] Grey mists hang in the valley's and foggy soup hovers on the hills! Enjoy the blue skies and life on the open road, keep giving all of us back here in dreary old England a glimpse at the good life.

Love Mum xxx
