Where I stayed
Arrived into Auckland early in the morning and headed to the Auckalnd Domain to check out the museum there. It is a huge museum and took me about 3 hours to scan all the floors. Leaving the museum there was a "Teddy Bear Picnic" going on in the park so I thought I would check it out. I'm still not sure what it was about, looked like people brought teddy bears and this carnival and had a picnic (pretty self explanatory I guess). As I walked through the picnic I got to see a little kid fashion show and jingles the clown, was offered a 'toddler kit' (but declined), and bought myself a hot dog.
After leaving the park I walked back along Karangahape Road which had a lot of heritage buildings and unique architecture. I walked over the Grafton Bridge (which when it was completed in 1910 was the longest single span concrete bridge in the world at 98.7 meters), checked out the Symonds Street Cemetery (which the bridge was built over), a 1910 Tram Shelter and some stores from the 1920's and new modern buildings.
It was still cloudy from all the rain so I saved my trip to the observatory of the Auckland Sky Tower until the next morning when i was a bit clearer (and was awesome) and headed down to the waterfront to celebrate Andres birthday and say goodbye to some more friends.
