Granada is another cool colonial city in better condition than Leon and much more touristy. The heat made us very lazy so when we heard about the nearby Masya volcano which you could get a taxi right up to the edge of the crater, we knew it was perfect for us. It is known as the gates of hell because you can look right in to the smoking crater and you can also get some pretty good views of the surrounding area. Apparently some crackpot priest went down into it it to get some lava to prove it was pure gold. He somehow managed to return, obviously without any proof.
