So the other sole rider braving the windy day was Paul, who's originally from England but moved to BC when he was 26 (Paul please correct me if I'm not recalling correctly!). He's been riding since he lived in England, and has had so many really interesting bikes - his latest being a Buell 1125 which he got from Steve Drane Harley Davidson for a steal!
It was really nice to have the company along the way from Sidney to Friday Harbor, and I appreciated Paul's calm demeanor as the ferry careened over the waves, sending waves of paranoia through me as I wondered if my bike tipped over since they have no straps to secure your bike, just the blocks. Funny enough the night before, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking, 'I'd better remember to grab my tie-downs from my dirt-bike stuff in case they don't have them on the ferry.' Thankfully it was the only thing I forgot (better than forgetting the Chrismas gifts!), and both Paul and my bikes did amazingly well despite the roll of the sea and water pouring through the ferry deck.
