Where I stayed
Premier Inns, Dover
We had ordered a car and driver to take us to Dover and they were not there when we came out of the airport.. but not to worry, the guy showed up momentarily and we were off. Elvis had said the drive would likely be about 2 hours.. It was a good thing I was traveling backwards as they guy seem to be going about 100 miles per hour.. very fast.. and we got to Dover in a flash.. about 1 1/2 hours.
What this meant was that we were really early for check in at our hotel. but no worries.. The driver took us to Premier Inn Dover Central, which sits right at the area of the Ferry and Cruise Terminals in Dover
so at about 9:30am, we set out on a walk about, exploring Dover. We walked along the boardwalk around the port area and made our way to a little port side shopping out let (you know I love to shop). After spending a little time there, we headed into Dover proper and walked around the streets. Very nice little town.
We headed back out to the hotel and at about 11:45 we were able to get into one of our rooms. shortly after our 2nd was available. We slept for a little while and then headed back out into Dover. We found a great Fish and Chips place for lunch and then walked up to Dover Castle. Not an easy walk. We decided not to go into the castle but had a look around and then headed back into Dover. Annie and I went Shopping and Madeline, Elvis and Eli went back to the hotel. that night we had dinner in the hotel, good food, and took another, very long walk along the board walk. we called it a night about 10:00pm..
