Just outside of the Kalbarri National Park, there is a homestead in the middle of nowhere, accessible only by dirt tracks which is in fact its own country.

Hut River Province Principality ruled by Prince Leonard and Princess Shirley. There is a government office, a post office, a museum, a gift shop and some tea rooms. There are about 13,000 people worldwide who hold a Hut River passport (which you can purchase for $250). The Prince and Princess have many children, the names I can't remember except for one which stood out for reasons unknown...Prince Wayne!

When we arrived unfortunately Prince Leonard was on a state visit to Perth but Princess Shirley Kindly showed us around, stamped our passports and told us about the history of the place. She was lovely...very down to earth for royalty!
