Packing up today I realized how difficult it is to pack for a toddler. And it also made me think how fortunate I am that we have been traveling with the baby since he was 2 months old, if I weren't an experienced traveler, traveling with a baby would scare me to death.  Don't get me wrong, its never easy and I will never be a pro. I still ask for tips every chance I get and secretly I freak out a little each time we board a flight. This is the reason I decided to start documenting all of our trips. When I searched online for tips on traveling with babies I received a lot of facts. But no real true stories from moms. And for some reason things never go smoothly or normal with me, so I figure it will be pretty entraining to look back and read these with M once he is older.

We are headed to California for a long weekend today to celebrate my step daughters birthday with my husbands family. M didn't nap before we boarded the flight and I was super nervous
The only time my child sits still is when he is asleep, and this holds true during flights as well.
Steve (the hubby) is a pro at getting M to sleep on planes. He takes him to the bathroom and lets him cry it out and does God knows what else until he comes back to his seat with the kid passed out!! So about an hour into the flight M was finally asleep and I swear the kid slept in at least 4 different positions (see pictures below).

I love California!! I have been to southern California many times and am a total beach bum (or as much of one as I can be living in Texas), but I was recently introduced to northern California and have fallen in love with it. The HWY 1 drive up the coast is breathtaking and the towns on the way are quaint and friendly unlike SOCAL.

My brother and sister in law live in a town called Soquel, its about 20 minutes from Santa Cruz and an hour from San Francisco. The trip was more about spending time with family and celebrating D's birthday so we didn't do much to write about. We did visit a few of the local antique shops that were very unique and a local pizza place called Pleasure Pizza that had some local beers that were delicious. I always have to at least see the beach and ocean when we come up so we took a short detour to drive by the ocean one day. It rained most of the time we were there so I didn't get to play in the sand.

The flight home was a bit more relaxed. M fell asleep almost instantly and woke up just in time to play with an Elmo App for 30 minutes before we landed. I wish they were all this easy!

Below are a few pictures from our trip. I am home for 5 days and am hosting Thanksgiving and then leaving for London, it will be a busy week.
My next blog about London will be more entertaining and informative!
