Bonjour from beautiful Paris!

Julie-Anne and I have had a fab time here.  We have been staying in a gorgeous hotel in Trocadero - near the Eiffel Tower. I have a particular fondness for good quality linen and I have to say  this place has the most divine linen!  They also have a feather duvet under the bottom sheet so it is so soft and luxurious.

I had the most amazing birthday. We started the day with a facial at the Sothy's Institute - pretty famous skin care place.  That was just lovely, and I came away refreshed and relaxed.  Then we wandered about Paris...I have visited a couple of times before, so felt no need to race around and do the tourist thing.  We wandered in and out of shops and found a little place that sold hair accessories.  I bought a few outrageously priced pieces there, but what I really paid for was the lesson in how to wear them like a chic French woman.  The woman in the shop very patiently showing me how to use these clips and things like she does. We had lunch in a cafe specialising in tea and then went on to the big  department store "Galleries Lafayette."  where we sprayed perfume, tried on shoes (I came close to buying a pair of high white strappy sandles perfect for samba, but even the sale price of $NZ400 couldn't tempt me), and wandered  about.

Back to the hotel for a quick change, then off to the Moulin Rouge for dinner and show.
And we had a fantastic time!  The food and champagne were great, and the show?  Well I would highly recommend it.  It was two full on hours of high energy entertainment. Besides the dancing, there was acrobatics, and other performances.  I just loved the costumes.. there were lots of feathers, sequins and other samba like creations.  I spent much of the time looking closely at how they attached the feathers and back pieces.  I have lots of ideas for samba costumes Clo and Lua!

After the show, it was time for an ice cream and  back to the hotel where Julie-Anne gave me a wonderful foot massage whilst we sat and chatted about the day.  Nice birthday aye!!

Most of all I have enjoyed spending time with my darling friend Julie-Anne.
We are rather used to having long periods apart now, because she and Tony have been doing diplomatic postings for the 20 years that I've known her.  It is always like we have never been apart and we spend hours chatting, laughing and catching up on what's been happening in our lives.

I now have five more days in Geneva before the journey home begins. No doubt I will have some more adventures to write about before then.

Dear Sue, sounds like you had a great birthday. Perfect for a goddess! Tony enjoyed his party,or is that parties?? I think for him there was at least two of everything. Ella was excited to hear it was your birthday, she wanted to wear her swirly skirt to your party. Told her you were on holiday for your party but that you would do a special twirl for her and she has done one for you! Tony was excited to hear you were at the home of nestle as his new coffee machine is a fancy nestle one and we have to import the coffee from oz! Better go, Ella's on the loo and Erin is firing missiles from the highchair. Oh the joy....
Love you,
