Well Nikki and I have done our two presentations....and they loved us!  Yes this completely unbiased assessment of our performance will be backed up by Nikki.

Our 90 minute workshop flew by.  By the end of it they had experienced a little of what it was like to be part of the collaborative that we run in NZ.  They tried out some of the tools we use to get change in hospital processes and clinical practice. And then we got them started on their own action plan for running collaboratives in their own countries.  We had people from Canada, USA, Netherlands, Australia and NZ in our workshop. A woman from the Ontario Ministry of Health told  me she thought our presentation was "excellent".  She also wanted to know if we would be interested in seeing an indigenous health centre whilst we are here.  Yes!  So Nikki and I have just been visiting the Council of Fire, a centre that offers a range of workshops and services for aboriginal people living in Toronto.  It was a real privilege to see the facility first hand and hear what they are doing.  We also had a meeting with Ministry of Health officials who work in the aboriginal health area.  They were interested to hear about how our collaborative worked for Maori.  Nikki was also able to fill them in on her PhD findings which seem to have relevance for them too. They are interested in a follow up video conference.

Our second presentation was only 15 minutes as part of a larger workshop.  In this one we talked about how our collaboration with the Australians who taught us how to run the collaborative. Again we got some good feedback from others there including people from a US based agency that develops guidlelines and  run implementation programmes.

Tonight is the conference dinner.  After that Leandro and Hunter are taking Nikki and I out on the town...a mix of gay and latin clubs I believe...Not that I haven't been spending time with the lovely boys...Nikki and I went to their place for dinner a couple of nights ago and last night they insisted that I get dressed up and they took me out to a fancy part of town for dinner and drinks.  I wore the shoes Leandro found for me (which he was very pleased about).  The place we went to eat was up some very steep, narrow steps made out of metal (like on boats).  So when I came down them I was extra careful, I put each foot sideways and walked slowly and as elegantly as I could in high heels.  When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I turned around to see where the boys were.  They were still at the top beaming broadly at me, and then they started to applaud.  They loved the elegance of my descent.  There certainly is a lot of laughter when we are together!
