Sunday visit to Windsor

A fantastic sunny day dawned on Sunday. The morning was spent doing the usual chores and we packed for Windsor, We left about 3. Quite a chunk of the way on the motorway and then thru Slough (I remember Ravi & Carol dropping us there on the way to London in 2009) and on to Windsor. Ravi and Carol have a lovely little home there with a great courtyard and garden out the back and with the lovely weather we had that's where we ate. Emma, Jasmine and Matt were there also. They had moved from Winchester on the Friday to their new flat just around the corner from Carol and Ravi on the Friday and spent the Saturday unpacking. Emma has a job nearby starting in about a week and Matt will commute to London.

Ravi of course had cooked a magnificent currie dinner - I had been looking forward to this as both Ann and I remember Ravi's yummy currie that we had at Linda's place.

After our feast we had to make the most of the wonderful weather and went for a stroll - not far to the Thames and we wandered along and crossed a bridge walking as far as Eton College. We walked along this lovely grassy park area and there were swans in the river and lots of people strolling at this time. We saw the home of Christopher Wren (the architect of St Paul's). Then we turned towards the castle, the Queen's standard was flying so we realised she was waiting for me to drop in for tea. (She was doomed to disappointment as we finished the night in a pub.)

We walked around the castle walls to the "Long Walk" - a long grassy park leading from the gates and there just near the gates was the closest pub to Windsor called "The two brewers" we finished our evening there, then wandered home to bed - me on an airbed in the dining room. Carol apologetically warned us about their demented cat but none of us were disturbed by any cries in the night.

Windsor - marvellous to be there! Dad & I took a bus trip to Windsor on our first visit to UK (before Carol & Ravi lived there). We had time to see only a small part of the castle & the town, before our boat left to take us back to London! So you've seen much more - Lucky you! Luv, Mum & Dad xx
