There are a few entries to go to complete the story of our amazing 15 day painting trip to France. During our time in Cruese we painted larger pieces. During our time in Paris, we only had time to paint in our journals, although Tatyana managed to do at least another oil at the Chateau de Vincennes.
Shows are being planned of our work, one in July in Breeze, Illinois and another in September at the Jacoby Art Gallery in Alton, Illinois. We will be finishing up the pieces we began in France and continue to paint from our photographs for quite some time. Sue Lowry is planning a sculpture that will represent the trip - can't wait to see that!
In the meantime, here are some more photos of the art exhibit we did hanging on the clothes line in front of Chezemma and lined up in the breakfast room of the Hotel du Donjon.
The final count of paintings before we left France is about 60.
The journals are little jewels that show the experience through the eyes of those that chose to create them. I wish I had photos of each of their journal pages to share - amazing.
Also included will be photos of those who attended the Chezemma art exhibit and my friend Colleen who stayed at the hotel with us and was like a 2nd "mere poule" (mother hen) to the group during her three day stay with us.
A guest book in French is called a "livre d'or" or golden book. Several of the pages in Jerie's journal were used for our special guests to write their comments. Here are some of the translations:
Bravo - it's too beautiful! Bravo!
Your works are magnificent - bravo!
It's magnificent - come back for another season besides spring time.
Beautiful art show for a beautiful village.
A very original idea that honors your talent and our homeland that we are seeing with new
eyes. Paint on!
Superb art show from great artists who came and made us some great memories. I am thrilled to have met you and to have rediscovered our countryside through your new eyes. I wish you well with your sale.
Thank you for this artistic week. You have great talent. Thank you for coming and hope to see you soon in France.
Congratulations on your paintings - they are a wonder for the eyes.
Sit back and enjoy the show!
