One of the great joys for me on this trip, apart from great traveling companions and the chance to paint every day for 15 days in the one of the most beautiful countries in the world, is the joy of seeing dear friends again.  You've met Nicole & Gilbert already, but there are other friends that we're going to see.

My dear friend Colleen made reservations to stay with us a few days in Paris at the Hotel Donjon in the Vincennes district.  Colleen and her husband were our neighbors for several years in Templemars, France.  We shared many meals together in each other's homes and vacations together, first in their vacation home in Provence, then in Sanary on the French Riviera, and then in Dinard on the Brittany coast. God has given us the gift of journeying together over the years and it will be special to have Colleen join us.  The photo of the four of us was taken when Steve and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on that trip two years ago.

Another delight will be having time with Vahideh, a dear friend, also going back to the days that we lived in Templemars (near Lille, France in the north).  Vahideh has three children, two sons and a daughter, just about the same ages of our three kids, Tim, Phil & Stephanie.  We became very close friends when we met through our sons who attended the same school, St. Pierre, in Lille. Her one son even lived with us for his senior hear in Clovis, California before beginning university in Florida.  Vahideh is an anesthesiologist and now lives in Paris.  She e-mailed me this week and has invited all 10 of us to come for tea our last weekend in France.  What a joy it will be for me to introduce my American friends to this gracious and amazing woman.

I am deeply grateful for each one of these life long friends and it will be a special part of this trip for us to experience France in the special way that only happens when you get to know the people.

Looking forward to "les retrouvailles."
Jerie
