Where I stayed
at home in Troy
Nicole and Gilbert Demeure await our arrival two weeks from tomorrow. She sent these lovely photos of their garden as it is right now. Nicole said the wisteria is just beginning to bloom and the weather is lovely. So in two weeks we will be flying out of St. Louis, arriving in Paris on Sunday morning the 16th, taking a taxi to the Gare Austerlitz, enjoy lunch somewhere nearby before getting on the train for La Souterraine. We'll arrive at Nicole & Gilbert's in the "deep France" or "France profond" in the countryside not far from Limoges, at about 3:30 in the afternoon - enough time for a nap before the dinner she is preparing for us
Nicole is the consummate hostess and is already planning our welcome dinner and "petite dejeuner" (breakfast) that we can enjoy after suggesting that we plan on sleeping in Monday morning. She has even found enough camp stools for all of us when we go out painting "plein air."
I have our travel document packets in hand for everyone, suitcases have been packed and repacked, art materials have been purchased and made travel ready, books on France have been read and shared, and now it is time for the final countdown!
Next Friday the art travelers and their families will enjoy an evening of "aperitifs" Chez Artz to celebrate our departure and discuss last minute details as we enjoy wine, cheese, chocolates and other French goodies.
We look forward to sharing our experiences on the blog as we paint our way through France in 15 days!
Two French Art Shows are already scheduled when we return
Flavors Cafe & Wine Bar, Breeze, Illinois,
August 7 - 21
Jacoby Art Gallery, Alton, Illinois
