Had a pretty good sleep but we had an early start again today as we head off to Austria. We set off at 7.30 & were in Liechtenstein about 8.30, we had a toilet break here. You can have your passport stamped for 1 Euro so I did. I bought some postcards, a couple of coin purses, some country cloth badges & a book mark.
We travelled through the mountains to Innsbruck for lunch & some shopping. I bought couple of key rings & a ring from the Swarovski shop. I could have spent a lot more but what's the point. The display in the shop is wonderful. There were all sorts of ornaments made from the crystals, took some photos. The mountains are beautiful, lots of photos again.
On our way again through to Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace, we arrived at 4.30pm & had a guided walking tour through some of the important sites with Gabbie, who is Austrian. We saw Mozart’s birthplace & Mozart Square. Also saw place where they filmed the Sound of Music. Our bus picked us up near Mozart Square & took us to the Castellani Park Hotel. The room is better than the one in Luzern although my pillows were very lumpy & the bed very hard, at least there was more room & a bigger bathroom. Dinner was at the hotel at 7.30pm. The menu was garlic soup with croutons then turkey with vegetables & crème caramel for dessert. The soup was beautiful but the turkey was chicken & the vegetables were so so. The crème caramel was nice although the custard was very sloppy but tasted nice. Then coffee to finish. After dinner I went upstairs to organise my bags & was in bed by 10.30pm, but didn’t get to sleep til about 11.30pm bed too hard & quilt to hot. Ended up taking quilt out of cover & putting both quilts on the top of the bed to give a bit of softness & then slept under the quilt cover. Every hotel has only had quilts except one in Paris. I can’t understand how people can sleep under a quilt in summer, even if it is raining.
